Mets 6, Marlins 1: Dickey Shuts Down The Fish

  • Sharebar

Player Of The Game: R.A. Dickey- 9 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 10 K, 118 pitches (84 strikes)

Goat Of The Game: None

Notes:

  • Jose Reyes failed to extend his hitting streak.
  • Andres Torres had a big game. He was 3-for-3 with a walk, a triple, and a home run. If Dickey hadn’t pitched a complete game, he would be the P.O.G.
  • Speaking of R.A. Dickey, he seems to be returning to dominance. In his last two starts before this game, he had gone seven innings in each start, allowing a total of four runs while striking out 17.
  • The Mets pounded out 13 hits today. Seven of nine starters had at least one hit. The Mets don’t have any particularly great power hitters, so they have do have days like this where everyone contributes at least a little.
  • The Mets ended their nine-game home losing streak and will take on the Braves tomorrow night in the beginning of a three-game series.
About Connor O'Brien
I'm a 17 year-old blogger, high school student, and lifelong Mets fan. I've been blogging about the Mets in some form or another for about four years. I embrace the new age, sabermetric way of thinking, but also recognize the importance of scouting and player devlopment.
