Marlins 4, Mets 2: Mets Can’t Complete Comeback

  • Sharebar

Final Score: Marlins 4, Mets 2

Player Of The Game: Daniel Murphy- 2-for-4, HR

Goat OF The Game: Jonathon Niese- 6 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 96 pitches (65 strikes)

Notes:

  • I don’t think Niese was terrible, he just had a rough fourth inning, allowing the Marlins to jump ahead 4-0. He struggled with the command of his curveball and left a bunch of pitches hanging in the fourth inning.
  • Another rough day for the Met offense. They left so many runners on base (11 in total). They got nine hits and drew four walks but they couldn’t put together a big rally? Some nights, it feels like, no matter how small the other team’s lead is, that the Mets have no shot. Tonight was one of those nights.
  • The bullpen was decent, and has actually been much better lately. With three scoreless innings, the Mets bullpen will likely not have the title of “worst bullpen in baseball” in regards to their ERA after tonight. Manny Acosta, Jon Rauch, and Bobby Parnell all pitched scoreless innings.
  • The Mets take on the Marlins again tomorrow night at 7:10 when Chris Young takes on Nathan Eovaldi.

I'm a 17 year-old blogger, high school student, and lifelong Mets fan. I've been blogging about the Mets in some form or another for about four years. I embrace the new age, sabermetric way of thinking, but also recognize the importance of scouting and player devlopment.
