Binghamton, Mets Agree To Four-Year PDC

The Mets and Binghamton Mets today announced a new four-year player development contract that will keep the B-Mets in the organization through 2016. The current contract was set to expire after this season.

The Mets and Binghamton have been affiliated since the B-Mets were founded in 1992.

Now the Mets only have to worry about their Triple-A affiliate (And possibly Low-A as well). I don’t think the Mets were really in danger of losing Binghamton. It’s the Bisons they really have to worry about. Attendance in Buffalo has been declining steadily for the last 20 years, and the Bisons thought affiliating themselves with the Mets would draw more people. It didn’t, and now it looks like they are set on signing with the Toronto Blue Jays, which could force the Mets to sign with a team in the Pacific Coast League. That would be a huge inconvenience to them.

I'm a 16 year-old blogger, high school student, and lifelong Mets fan. I've been blogging about the Mets in some form or another for about four years. I embrace the new age, sabermetric way of thinking, but also recognize the importance of scouting and player devlopment.
