There has been plenty of news today regarding the Mets and possible acquisitions. Here we go…

  • Brian Fuentes was designated for assignment today by the Oakland Athletics. Brian  Fuentes - Texas Rangers v Oakland AthleticsFuentes, 36, has a 6.85 ERA in 25 innings with Oakland this season. In 2009, Fuentes led the American League in saves with a career-high 48. Despite being DFA’d today, Fuentes can still be traded within the next ten days.
  • According to the New York Post, the Mets are interested in re-acquiring Brewers relief pitcher Francisco Rodriguez. The Mets traded Rodriguez during the All-Star break last year.
  • Earlier this week, it was revealed by the New York Daily News that the Mets are beginning to pursue Houston Street and Brad Lidge.
