NL East: Braves And Cubs Agree On Dempster Deal, Marlins Trade Infante, Sanchez

  • Sharebar

We are just eight days from the MLB trade deadline and things are starting to heat up. Deals are now being made as teams try to build a team for the stretch run. Here are some news, notes, and rumors from around the NL East:

  • The Braves and Cubs agreed on a blockbuster trade today, one that would send Ryan Dempster to Atlanta. Dempster, 35, has a 2.11 ERA in 98 innings this season. The Braves will reportedly send Randall Delgado and more to the Cubs. (@MLBBowman)
  • The Marlins made a big trade today, dealing Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers. In exchange, the Marlins receive top prospect Jacob Turner ad well as Rob Brantly and Brian Flynn. Turner, a right-handed pitcher, was ranked before the season as the 22nd best prospect in baseball. (@JonMorosi)
  • Talks between Cole Hamels and the Phillies are heating up. The Phillies would like to get a deal done sooner rather than later, so they have time to deal Hamels if he doesn’t sign. (ESPN)
