The Mets sent Pedro Beato back to Buffalo after his awful outing last night. In his place, they called up Manny Acosta.

Beato, a Rule 5 pick in 2010, just returned from injury this month. He pitched a total of 4.1 innings over seven outings, pitching to a 10.38 ERA, largely thanks to last night’s game.

Acosta, 31, was designated for assignment by the Mets earlier this season. In 22 innings pitched, he has a 11.86 ERA. However, he has pitched very well in Triple-A Buffalo this season. In 26 innings there, he has a 2.25 ERA and walked only 1.3 batters per nine innings.

The Mets must make another roster move later today, as they call up Matt Harvey. Harvey wil make his MLB debut on Thursday in Arizona, but a roster spot needs to be cleared for him. Sandy Alderson told reporters before yesterday’s game that he will send down a position player. Bob Klapisch reports that it will be Lucas Duda whjo is optioned to Buffalo.
