Thursday’s starter has been determined. The Mets decided and announced today that Matt Harvey will make his MLB debut on Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
Harvey, 23, is 7-5 with a 3.68 ERA in Buffalo this season. In his last start, he threw five innings, giving up six runs on seven hits. However, with Miguel Batista‘s struggles becoming unbearable, the choice became clear: cut Batista and bring up a prospect. The two candidates were Collin McHugh and Harvey, but Harvey is much more MLB-ready than McHugh is, so he got the call.
Harvey will be activated on Tuesday. The Mets will likely not announce who will be sent down or DFA’d until Tuesday.
