Game 98: Mets Lose 5-2 As Strasburg Dominates

  • Sharebar

Final Score: Nationals 5, Mets 2

Player Of The Game: Jeremy Hefner- 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K

Goat Of The Game: Tim Byrdak- 0.2 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 1 BB

Notes:

  • Jeremy Hefner pitched surprisingly well. Of course you can’t expect him to outduel Stephen Strasburg, but he kept the Mets in the game. Today’s loss was all on the offense.
  • The Mets were held to just four hits this afternoon. The only bright spot (sort of) was Ike Davis, who hit his 16th home run of the season.
  • David Wright had a rough day, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. His batting average is now at .340.
  • The Mets take on the Diamondbacks at 9:40 tomorrow night in Arizona. Matt Harvey will make his first MLB start against Wade Miley.
