Brooklyn Cyclones Roster Headlined By Nimmo, Evans, 2012 Picks

Nimmo playing for the GCL Mets last season

Today, the Brooklyn Cyclones revealed their Opening Day roster. Here are some notable names on the roster.

  • 2011 1st round pick Brandon Nimmo- Nimmo played seven games with the GCL Mets and three games with Kingston, and had eight hits in 38 at-bats.
  • 2011 15th round pick Phillip Evans- Evans was given a huge bonus for a 15th round pick last year, receiving $650,000 from the Mets. Evans was 10-34 in limited play between three leagues last season.
  • 2012 Supplemental round pick Kevin Plawecki. Plawecki was named Big Ten Player of the Year this year and was taken 35th overall in this month’s draft.
  • Juan Urbina- an international pitcher who played for Kingsport last season. He was 4-6 with a 5.95 ERA, but only just turned 19.
  • 2012 3rd round pick Matt Koch (RHP, Louisville)
  • 2012 5th round pick Brandon Welch (RHP, Palm Beach CC)
  • 2012 9th round pick Richie Rodriguez (INF, Eastern Kentucky)
  • 2012 10th round pick Paul Sewald (RHP, USD)
