Manny Acosta DFA’d, Schwinden, Quintanilla Called Up to Replace Ailing Turner

During today’s 8-4 loss to the Phillies, Justin Turner suffered a right ankle sprain while in a rundown. According to WFUV’s Amit Badlani, Turner is expected to miss approximately 2-3 weeks.

Triple-A infielder Omar Quintanilla has been called up to replace Turner on the roster. Quintanilla, 30, is hitting .281 with six home runs and 27 RBI on the season in Buffalo.

According to Adam Rubin, Chris Schwinden has also been called up. Reliever Manny Acosta was designated for assignment.

In two starts for the Mets this season, Schwinden allowed 11 runs over eight innings.
