David Wright will be playing at third base today for the Mets after missing three games with a broken pinkie finger. I think this really surprised us all when we heard the news.
Yesterday, Wright told reporters that his finger was so swollen, he could not move it. Terry Collins said if the swelling didn’t go down by today, Wright would be heading to the DL. I bet it’s still bad, but Wright is such a competitor. He was likely frustrated that such a small injury could limit him so much, so he decided to push through it. That’s what I love about Wright. He is always there to support his teammates. Hopefully, Wright isn’t trying to play super hero and is actually able to play. Playing through pain is alright to a certain extent, but not to the point where it hurts your team. We will see how this all works out.
