In the fourth inning of tonight’s game, rookie outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit his first major league home run, a two-run bomb to right field that tied the game at three. Nieuwenhuis is the first Met since Mike Jacobs to hit a home run in one of his first three major league games.
