Original Post 5:39 pm:

Infielder Ronny Cedeno has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left intercostal muscle.

Cedeno, 29, has three hits in 12 at-bats this season.

Buffalo right-handed pitcher Jeremy Hefner will take Cedeno’s roster spot. However, there has been speculation that after today, the Mets will send him down again and call up Jordanny Valdespin. Valdespin is considered a top prospect in the Mets system, and has hit .276 in Buffalo so far this season.

Updates will come when available…
