There have been some big shakeups and possibly even more to come with the Mets regarding their bullpen. Here are the happennings so far:
- The Mets have signed Jon Rauch to a one-year, $3.5 million deal, pending a physical. Rauch, who by the way is 6’10″, went 5-4 last season with the Blue Jays, saving 11 games to the tune of a 4.85 ERA.
- According to Steve Popper of the Bergen Record, sources have confirmed that the Mets have agreed to a deal with the Giants that will send San Francisco Angel Pagan in exchange for Andres Torres and relief pitcher Ramon Ramirez.
- Joel Sherman reported earlier, not only that the Mets are looking to trade for a relief pitcher (Ramon Ramirez), but that they are also close to signing another relief pitcher to be their closer, in an attempt to stock their bullpen.
- According to Ken Davidoff of Newsday, the Mets have also signed Frank Francisco to a contract. Jon Morosi says it’s a two-year deal worth $12 million overall. Francisco was 1-4 last season with 17 saves and a 3.55 ERA, and will close for the Mets this season.
