Pre-game: Mets (55-56) vs. Braves (65-48)

  • Sharebar

The Mets look to stay in the playoff race by beating the Braves tonight in New York. Here is their lineup for the game:

1, Jose Reyes SS

2. Justin Turner 2B

3. Dan Murphy 1B

4. David Wright 3B

5. Angel Pagan CF

6. Jason Bay LF

7. Lucas Duda RF

8. Josh Thole C

9. Dillon Gee RHP (10-3, 3.69)

vs. Tommy Hanson (11-6, 3.20)

Notes:

Gee was scheduled to pitch on Wednesday, but his start was pushed back due to the rain out.

Hanson has struggled since the All-Star break, going just 1-2 with a 6.56 ERA. He has given up 17 runs since the break (4 starts), 12 of them coming in the fourth inning or earlier.

The Mets look to bounce back after a crushing loss last night, and I mean crushing. They fell to nine(65-48) games behind the Braves and one game under .500. It was their fifth straight loss and a very disappointing ones. The MEts need to take the next two from the Braves, and then get hot. They need to stop losing series to the Marlins and Nationals, and they also need to win at home, something that they have not been able to do much this season. The Mets have a ton of home games coming up. They need to use their huge ballpark to their advantage.

Needs to step up: Jose Reyes

Jose Reyes has been ice cold since returning from the DL, hitting just .261 since he came back on July 19. He needs to have a big game tonight, lead the team to a victory, and get back to his pre-injury form.

Career vs. Hanson: 5-11 (. 455) 2 RBI, 2 2B
