Pre-game: Mets (55-55) vs. Braves (64-48)

It’s the start of a series that will either make or break the Mets season, as they face off against the Braves in a three game series starting tonight at Citi Field. Here is the Met lineup:

1. Jose Reyes SS

2. Justin Turner 2B

3. Dan Murphy 1B

4. David Wright 3B

5. Angel Pagan CF

6. Jason Bay LF

7. Lucas Duda RF

8. Josh Thole C

9. R.A. Dickey RHP (5-9, 3.77)

vs. Tim Hudson (10-7, 3.31)

Here is the Braves lineup:

Dickey made one mistake on Saturday, giving up a first-inning three run home run to Jayson Werth, but it ended up costing him and the Mets the game against the Nats.

Hudson is 6-2 with a 2.34 ERA in his last ten starts.

This is the last stand for the Mets. They are eight games back in the Wild Card standings, seven in the loss column. In order to stay in legitimate contention, the Mets need to sweep this series. If they get swept or lose two of three, it’s over, and even if they win two of three, they only pick up one game. If they sweep, they are five games back and in the thick of it again. It could happen, but the bullpen needs to shut down the Braves in the late innings, and as a staff, they have to pitch well overall. The Braves have a deadly offense now that they have Michael Bourn. Josh Thole needs to shut him down on the basepaths.

Here are the Wild Card standings coming into this series:

Let’s go Mets!
