Mets mount comeback, but Phillies hold on to win 8-5

  • Sharebar

The Phillies took the final game of the three-game set against the Mets by the score of 8-5. Here are the notable performances:

It wasn’t Pelfrey’s best day, allowing four runs over five innings, the first time this month he has failed to pitch past the fifth inning. Pelf’s worst inning was the fifth, when he gave up three runs on Michael Matrinez’s three-run homer that put the Phillies up 4-0. The Mets mounted a comeback, scoring three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth, but Antonio Bastardo shut the door and closed the game for the Phils.
