Matt Harvey news

The Baseball America Midseason Top 50 prospect List was released yesterday, and Mets 2010 first round draft pick was picked as the 30th best prospect. Harvey, who was drafted sevneth overall in last year’s first-year player draft, has an 9-4 record between St. Lucie and Binghamton. He was ranked third on my  Mets top prospects list.

Harvey pitched yester day and was “torched,” allowing seven earned runs in just three innings. Harvey has yet to pick up a win with Double-A Binghamton.

It looks like Harvey will need to take this entire year to work in the minors. Right now, he isn’t a major league quality pitcher. However, if he doesn’t get hurt and improves this season in Double-A or maybe even Triple-A by season’s end, he could contend for the fourth or fifth spot in the rotation net season.
