According to Adam Rubin of ESPN, it is very unlikely the Mets will trade Jose Reyes this season. Here is his tweet:
Now it seems that the Mets will likely re-sign Reyes at the end of the season. His value is dropping because of injury concerns and the Mets may be able to match the highest offer from another team depending on how long Reyes is hurt. However, what if the Mets don’t want to sign him? They’re concerned about the injuries too, right? The Mets should only re-sign him if they have complete confidence in Reyes and if they believe he deserves the money. Yes, if they don’t sign him, the fan base will be very angry, but the Mets probably don’t want a repeat of the Pedro Martinez situation: a very good player that can’t stay on the field and making a ton of money. Personally, I want them to re-sign Reyes, but Sandy Alderson and the Wilpons have to decide if it is best for the team’s future.
