Of course Beltran would say that. He has to. He still probably won’t accept a deal to an American League team, but in case you haven’t noticed, the Rangers and the Red Sox are the only two AL teams even considering Beltran. It’s very likely that he will end up on a National League roster. In the end, he will end up on the Giants, even though they are considering B.J. Upton. The price for Upton is too high and I don’t think the Giants will be willing to pay that, so they’ll end up going with Beltran, their second option.
